Mazur-Ulam Theorem
The notation and terminology used in this paper have been introduced in the following papers: [19], [18], [4], [5], [20], [11], [10], [14], [17], [1], [6], [16], [24], [25], [21], [13], [12], [22], [2], [9], [8], [3], and [7]. For simplicity, we use the following convention: E, F , G are real normed spaces, f is a function from E into F , g is a function from F into G, a, b are points of E, and...

متن کاملThe Markov Moment Problem and de Finetti ’ s Theorem : Part I 15 June 2003
This paper gives an abstract version of de Finetti’s theorem that characterizes mixing measureswith Lp densities. The general setting is reviewed; after the theorem is proved, it is specializedto coin tossing and to exponential random variables. Laplace transforms of bounded densities arecharacterized, and inversion formulas are discussed.
متن کاملMathematische Zeitschrift The Markov moment problem and de Finetti’s theorem: Part I
The Markov moment problem is to characterize sequences s0, s1, s2, . . . admitting the representation sn = ∫ 1 0 x f (x) dx, where f (x) is a probability density on [0, 1] and 0 ≤ f (x) ≤ c for almost all x. There are well-known characterizations through complex systems of non-linear inequalities on {sn}. Necessary and sufficient linear conditions are the following: s0 = 1, and 0 ≤ (−1)n−j ( n ...
متن کاملOn the Mazur - Ulam Theorem and the Aleksandrov Problem for Unit Distance Preserving Mappings
Let X and Y be two real normed vector spaces. A mapping /: X —► Y preserves unit distance in both directions iff for all x, y e X with ||jc — y|| = l it follows that ||/(jc) /0>)|| = 1 and conversely. In this paper we shall study, instead of isometries, mappings satisfying the weaker assumption that they preserve unit distance in both directions. We shall prove that such mappings are not very f...
